University City Hosts Bonita Vista in Friday Night Week 3

The University City Centurions will look to stay unbeaten when they host the Bonita Vista Barons on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m.
University City (2–0) has been dominant through the first two weeks of the season, averaging 45 points per game while piling up nearly 500 yards of total offense. Quarterback Quentyn DeMara has been the spark, averaging 268 passing yards and 335 total yards per game. He has plenty of help around him, including running back Deshaun Hille, who is averaging 122 rushing yards per game, and receiver DJ Ferguson, who leads the team with 94.5 receiving yards per game.
The Centurions have also been strong defensively, giving up just 27 points combined in their first two contests.
Bonita Vista (0–2) comes in still looking for its first win of the year. The Barons have struggled to find offensive consistency, averaging only 179 yards per game and scoring just 14 points so far. Quarterback Marshall Romo leads the Barons with 53 passing yards per game, while running back Angel Cortes has paced the ground attack with 33 rushing yards per contest.
For Bonita Vista, the key will be slowing down University City’s balanced offensive attack and controlling the clock to limit the Centurions’ possessions. For UC, the focus will be on maintaining momentum and protecting home field as they look to improve to 3–0.
“We’ve got some talented players making big plays for us, but the most important thing is continuing to improve as a team each week,” Centurions head coach Paul Lawrence said. “If we keep building and playing together, good things will happen.”
Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday at University City High School.
