Centurions Sweep West Hills With JV and Varsity Shutouts

University City football had a night to remember on Thursday, as both the JV and varsity squads came away with shutout victories on the road against West Hills.
The JV Centurions opened the evening with a gritty defensive battle, pulling out a 6-0 win. Jasmine Herrera provided the game’s lone touchdown, while the defense locked down the Wolf Pack from start to finish. Amanda Nguyen’s key interception helped stall momentum, and Dalia Lopez sealed the win with a pick in the closing seconds of regulation. The win marks the JV team’s second straight victory and set the tone for the varsity matchup to follow.
Varsity picked up right where JV left off, rolling to a dominant 26-0 victory and extending their road winning streak to five games. Quarterback Kianna Lefear had a monster night, throwing for 193 yards and three touchdowns. She connected with Joy Singleton for 75 yards and a score, while Hayden Goldstein and Courtlyn Mitchell also added touchdown receptions. Lefear’s streak of three or more passing touchdowns has now extended to three consecutive games.
Defensively, the Centurions were just as sharp. The defensive front tallied four sacks, with Autumn Denson leading the charge by taking down the quarterback three times and adding three more hurries. Mitchell also contributed on defense, returning an interception for a touchdown to put an exclamation point on the shutout.
With the win, University City improves to 7-4. The Centurions now have their sights set on making history with their first-ever playoff run since the program’s inaugural season. They’ll need three more victories to clinch their spot, and with league contention still in play, the momentum is on their side.
