Centurion Flag Football Edge Pointers in Thriller, Extend Win Streak to Five

University City entered Tuesday’s matchup against Point Loma riding a four-game winning streak, and they kept the momentum rolling with a nail-biting 14-12 victory. The win not only avenged an early-season 16-0 loss to the Pointers back in August but also pushed the Centurions’ record to 10-4 as they continue their chase in the league race.
The Centurions struck first with an early touchdown from Avi Schorr to set the tone. Later, with the game hanging in the balance, Courtlyn Mitchell delivered a clutch punt return to the house, igniting the sidelines and extending UC’s lead. With Kianna Lefear steady on the one-point conversions, University City built a 14-6 cushion heading into the closing seconds.
Point Loma made a last push, finding the end zone with just 13 seconds left to close the gap to 14-12. But UC’s defense held strong on the two-point conversion, forcing the Pointers to come up short. With the game in hand, the Centurions went into victory formation to close out their fifth straight win.
University City now sits at 10-4, playing with confidence and unity as they keep their “eyes on the prize.”
