Game Highlight: UC Girls Water Polo

The UC Girls Water Polo team pulled off a thrilling 7–6 victory last night over league rival Point Loma at Bud Kearns Pool. After falling to the Pointers in their first league matchup earlier this season, the Centurions came out determined and set the tone early by building a strong lead.

Point Loma mounted a fierce comeback in the third quarter, but UC stayed composed down the stretch and held on to secure the hard-fought league win.

“I was really proud of how the girls responded after that third-quarter push,” said head coach Jackson Ziegler. “We talked a lot about staying disciplined and trusting each other, and they did exactly that when it mattered most.”

Offensively, the Centurions were led by captain and starting center Gabbi Hancock, who recorded a hat trick on the night. Elena Johnson added two goals, while Ava Chiaramonte and Emmy Lawrence each found the back of the net to round out the scoring in a true team effort.

A great bounce-back league win and an exciting performance by the Centurions.
