SDUSD SWEAR Sports: Supporting Student-Athlete Mental Health

We are proud to share a new initiative from the San Diego Unified School District Student Wellness Education and Resources Committee (SWEAR). The SWEAR Committee’s mission is to improve SDUSD’s perspective on mental health and strengthen the connection between academic success and student well-being.

As part of that mission, SWEAR Sports was created to address the growing mental health challenges faced by student-athletes. SWEAR Sports recognizes the unique pressures athletes experience—balancing academics, performance, and expectations—and aims to provide ongoing tools and support to help them thrive both on and off the field.

Each month, SWEAR Sports will release a Student-Athlete Mental Health Newsletter, filled with valuable resources, personal stories, and expert insights to help athletes care for their mental wellness.

with schools by sharing resources at seasonal athletic meetings and providing brief presentations to support athletes and families.

Thank you for helping us promote wellness, awareness, and resilience in our student-athletes.
